Matchmaking Success Story - Winning A Bid For Exporting Gear Hobbing Machines To The Turkish Market

Winning A Bid For Exporting Gear Hobbing Machines To The Turkish Market Through “Matchmaking4U” At SIMTOS 2014

A joint effort by SIMTOS and Daesung Hi-Tech leading to success

The business consultation program "Matchmaking4U" first introduced at SIMTOS 2014 contributed to the vitalization of business transactions by matching participating exhibitors (both local and international) with the buyers they hope to do business with, and vice versa. It laid the foundation for SIMTOS to grow as a global event that plays a decisive role in helping exhibitors to actually generate profits, rather than a show that simply displays various products for promotion.

The SIMTOS organizers arrange business consultation meetings for buyers and exhibitors through Matchmaking4U in three steps: the pre-show meetings, which begin one year before SIMTOS, on-site meetings, which are held during the exhibition, and post-show meetings, which continue even after the end of the show. For instance, SIMTOS 2014 arranged 147 pre-show meetings starting May 2013 and 1,085 on-site meetings during the exhibition. In October, in particular, it organized 90 post-show meetings, leading to some tangible results, such as MOU agreements, sales contracts, and technological cooperation between buyers and exhibitors.

Daesung Hi-Tech, a Korea-based machine tool manufacturer that specializes in automatic lathes and gear hobbing machines, serves as an excellent example as it signed MOUs with buyers in Turkey, Sweden, and Russia, among others, to export its products to foreign markets through the Matchmaking4U program. The company held meetings with buyers from the overseas markets it hoped to enter through a pre-show meeting in October 2013 and invited the buyers to its plant right after the pre-show meeting to show off its production line. It continued to have discussions on business details, such as trade conditions, with the buyers during the SIMTOS 2014 period. As a result, the company succeeded in building close partnerships with overseas buyers through post-show meetings in October 2014 right after the show.

Daesung Hi-Tech could build a basis for selling its products in various markets, including Turkey, Sweden, and Russia by signing MOUs with buyers there. AYTT CNC Takim Tezgahlari San. Tic. Ltd. Sti, a Turkey-based machine tool trade agency that signed an MOU with Daesung Hi-Tech, visited Daesung Hi-Tech along with its customers to purchase Daesung's gear hobbing machines.

Mr. Gürhan AYDIN with AYTT, expressing his satisfaction, said, "I sent gear parts blueprints to Daesung a few days before my visit to Korea on behalf of our client and Daesung gave us a perfect demonstration for the production of the parts based on the blueprints."

Choi Woo-Gak, CEO of Daesung Hi-Tech, commented, "Turkey is a highly promising market as it is a newly industrialized nation where many famous automakers around the world operate their production lines and the country is now making investments in equipment actively," attributing the company’s successful entry into the Turkish market partly to the help of SIMTOS.
